Depending on what i'm looking for, I can click off a video within 2 seconds. I'd like to hang around and give the video a fair chance, but I don't think i'm alone here.
A good example would be fails videos. They're fun to watch and a good way to unwind - and make your own day not seem so bad - but if the fails videos has a goofy voice over that's trying to be funny (and ends up cringy) and explains exactly what you're seeing when you're seeing it...it's an instant back button press.
Another good example is when video creators try and pad their videos to extend view time. They'll show a scene, then replay the same scene in a different sequence with a voice over explaining the scene they've just shown you.
Some other reasons - videos that have a 10 second intro animation announcing the video creator or video topic. I don't care, cut to the chase and show me the content I came to see!
If the video is of a real life vlog, a wobbly camera that gives me a headache moving everywhere (get a gimbal or tripod?). Bad sound is another no-go for me. Not so much the subjects of the video being quiet, but the overall sound of the video being unbalanced. Loud to quiet to loud and so on.
What are your reasons for stopping watching a YouTube video in the first 10 seconds?
